MEDITERRANEAN MARINE LIFE
We come in contact with a large variety of Mediterranean species daily, including Mediterranean barracuda, octopus, large groupers, scorpion fish, dentix, pincer lobster, conger and moray eels. We often spot Cardinal Fish and seahorses in the mouths of caves and their overhangs.
A giant white jellyfish (Rhizotoma pulmo)Much to the delight of photo and video divers is the incredible expanse of Parazhoanthus (Margarita Flower), Leptosamnia and a myriad of incrusted sponges, all offer many opportunites for the wonderful effect of back lit photos.
And most importantly is the presense of the red coral which is visible at just 4 meters and unique to all the Mediterranean area. The coral cling to the cave rooves and canyon walls of this area, and it is very exciting to take close-up pictures because of the "polipetti", the "small octopus flowers" that grow on the coral.
